Paul Hanly's notes on the meeting of 15 November 2001 You can also read the minutes of the meeting of 15 November 2001 John Hunt of Thiess did a presentation on the EVS and Parametrix reports which are the screening level health risk assessment and (for those areas where the outcome caused concern) the detailed assessment.) There was debate about the assumptions used to determine the likely tolerable daily intake of dioxins from fish and the ability to predict an outcome with certainty. It is likely that the assumptions and calculations will be subject to some review. I have suggested that eg Greenpeace and Thiess work out what they can agree on as a consensus model and if Theiss believe the consensus model is way out, they argue their position to PPK but that the consensus position is included in the EIS. There are observed adverse biological impacts on the reproductive cycle of the fish eating birds. The situation with fish is less clear (to me anyway). PPK will apparently be advising that the Bay should be monitored for some period of time after the remediation to test predicted outcomes against actual outcomes. Minutes will be added when available. The presentation will be added when made available in digital form. |
