The May 2001 revision of the transport plan forecast substantial delays in the area including a 13 minute delay for Northbound traffic on Concord Road at Homebush Bay drive in the PM peak. It also forecast 70% more traffic over Ryde Bridge. This forecast was in spite of an aggressive modal choice assumption in favour of public transport which isn't supported by census district statistics, local surveys and the amount of planned dwellings outside the 400 metre radius of the station.

Recent Developments:

1. Ryde Council exhibits plans for the Meadowbank Employment area at the northern end of Ryde Bridge. There was already a 70% increase in traffic forecast for Ryde Bridge. Now Ryde Council is adding 2,100 residents and 4,800 workers at the bridge, but there was no Transport  Management Plan exhibited!

2. The RTA's letter of 9 Feb 01 says project is dependent on rail infrastructure, including duplication of main Northern Line. There are no plans available for duplication of the main northern line in spite of requests to City Rail. The Parramatta to Chatswood Rail Link EIS says that there will be reduced services on the main northern line through Rhodes - 4 services less in the AM peak.

3. The Government has announced increased development in the Olympic precinct. This will likely impact on Ryde and Silverwater Bridges. There are no traffic studies for this proposed development available.

4. The Minister has failed to answer the issue of the 13 minute delay in the May Transport Plan.
